Knowledge sharing to increase impact:

RIPEET goes at Beyond Crises/Beyond Normal - Energy and Society conference

Hosted by the NTNU in Trondheim, 27-28 Sepetember 2023

On September 27th and 28th, 2023, the NTNU Trondheim hosted the "Beyond Crises/Beyond Normal - Energy and Society" conference. The RIPEET project, represented by its coordinator, Wolfgang Haider, co-hosted a session alongside Suyash Jolly from the Nordland Research Institute, Bodø, Norway, and Julius Wesche from the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies of Culture at NTNU. The session centered on the conceptualization of agency and coalition building in sustainability transitions, where researchers from across Europe shared their progress in studying energy transitions and the roles of specific actors in this dynamic process.

Wolfgang Haider delivered a presentation on the Transition Lab approach and its relationship to fostering transformative capacities within regional research and innovation ecosystems. The research conducted under RIPEET underscores that collaborative settings within a regional context in the energy sectorcan significantly contribute to building the capacity for change. This involves the application of knowledge techniques such as stakeholder and systems mapping, as well as co-creative methodologies like vision building and backcasting, which provide a platform for underrepresented voices and encompass diverse perspectives in the governance of energy transitions.

An important focus emerging from the conference is how these practices specifically impact the issue of achieving just transitions, which will be a primary point of consideration in our ongoing research.
